Many fishing charters offer private or shared fishing. With a private charter you and your party charter the sport fishing boat for your own pleasure with no one else besides the crew on board with you. If you want a more social atmosphere share your fishing day with other anglers.

| The Fish |
| Kaua'i's warm ocean waters feature big game fish, including Pacific Blue Marlin, Ahi (yellow fin tuna), and Mahi Mahi. On these fishing tours all experience levels are welcomed and it's a good idea to let the captain know what skill level you are at. Most charters have a catch policy talk with the captain to let him know what you whould like to do with the fish and if it is ok. Please do not waste fish, they are a precious and expensive food source that should be conserved for the future. |

| Seasickness |
| The ocean is not a calm pond or lake it is alive with action. Captains use their best judgement with weather conditions but everyone's reponse to being on a boat is different. If you are not used to being on the water it's recommended that you consider taking seasickness medication such as Dramamine or Bonine prior to the trip. |
